Washing Machine Blogging - Part Two

After reading about the washing machine installation, you may ask, where is the dryer?  If you ask, you are obviously an American!

Clothes dryers are strictly an American phenomenon.  Here is a chart from a 2004 economic study from Sweden comparing ownership of various appliances in the U.S. vs European nations.

Notice no country as high as 40% and that Spain is at 5%, Italy 10% and France 12%!  I have to say I've never seen one in Egypt.

So here is Linda with our "green" dryer:

It's the same model as everyone else has in our neighborhood.

Here's one in action.  This was taken a few years ago in Luxor, near the Valley of the Kings, where we will be heading in a couple of weeks.


Another non-American thing about the washer.  There was no box of detergent inside.  Proctor & Gamble hasn't gone worldwide with that introductory box of new super xxxxxxx detergent.  So we had to stop by the market tonight and pick up a box of the local product:
